Sunday 11th September – Walk to Dtaat Mook Waterfall from Huay Tueng Thao Lake (with option to extend)
After having 3 exhausting hikes including steep ups and downs as well as leeches, we will have a more easy hike at this weekend. This will be a triangular walk, there and back, from the northern end of the Huay Tueng Tao lake up to the waterfall. Please notice that we will meet directly at Huay Tueng Thao (details see below).
It will be an easy, mostly flat walk of about 3 hrs to the falls and back. However, shortly after start we will have to go up for about 250 altitude meters. We’ll stop for a snack/lunch for about 20 or 30 minutes at the waterfall. Since this is a short hike, we have the opportunity to make an extended longer route, from the Buddha statue, along the culvert, up and over the hill and down to the waterfall, then walk back along the streambed to the National Park headquarters and back along the dirt road and around about 1/3 of the reservoir. See also map below.
For those interested in staying on, there are a number of restaurants along the lakeside.
Bring around 1.5-2 liters of water or more and snacks. Good footwear etc. hat, mozzie repellant, sunblock and rain gear. If by chance it is raining heavily we will probably cancel the hike. But in the case of lighter rain and it looks like the weather might clear up we will probably go ahead with the hike and brave the rain which will at least cool us down.
next to the Buddha statue on the far side of Huay Tueng Tao. Once you come onto the ring road of HTT (shortly after the entrance booth) turn left and follow the road to the parking place next to the Buddha statue. Please note: Huay Tueng Tao has a 20 Baht entrance fee.
