Sunday 28th of August, Huay Tung Thao Figure of Eight
This is a 11.8 km hike and depending on the group speed it will take us around 4-5 hours. Please notice that we will meet directly at Huay Tung Thao (details see below). We will start at HTT and walk about 3 km on a fairly flat area. Then we will go up ….
Then we will go up from 350 m altitude to about 570 m within a 1,4 km distance. After this we will go downhill, crossing the “Small Waterfall” and arriving at our snack/breakfast break at the Mee Jok Reservoir.
Following the break we will proceed on another flat part before we will finally go up for about 2,5 km to an altitude of 650 m. The last part is a steep downhill with a great view over HTT.
Since nearly the half of the walk is quite easy going, it should be mentioned that the “Up Hill” and “Down” parts are not easy and would need some caution as they are partially quite steep and there are a lot of loose stones and scree on the path. When we did this hike in April only 50 % of the hikers walked the second up part and all of us were really exhausted afterwards, but all of us also enjoyed it.
After arriving at HTT there are lunch places around for all interested.
Bring around 1.5-2 liters of water or more and snacks. Good footwear etc. hat, mozzie repellant, sunblock and rain gear. If by chance it is raining heavily we will probably cancel the hike. But in the case of lighter rain and it looks like the weather might clear up we will probably go ahead with the hike and brave the rain which will at least cool us down.
For this hike we will meet directly before the “Entrance Fee Booth” at HTT.
