Sunday 12th June, 2011 – Ban Doi Pui Loop
We will meet for an 8.15 am start at the arboretum. We will drive up to Ban Doi Pui and then hike to Ban Doi Peak before returning via Doi Suthep to the village.
This is an 11.5 km hike and depending on the group speed it will take us around 5 – 5.5 hours.
We will start at Ban Doi Pui with an easy hike to the Doi Pui Turn.
Thereafter it is a fairly challenging uphill gradient to the Doi Pui Peak.
The breakfast break will be at our usual picnic spot, reputedly built for the King of Thailand, before we start the return journey to the village car park.
There has been less rain of late but please be prepared for the odd thirsty leech!
Bring around 1.5-2 liters of water or more and snacks. Good footwear etc. hat, mozzie repellant, sunblock and rain gear. If by chance it is raining, about to rain or has been raining heavily overnight, the hike will be cancelled.
The usual meeting point at the arboretum
8.00 for an 8.15 am start
We will drive up to Ban Doi Pui either in our own cars if the group can be accommodated, or in a red songtao. Depending on the number of people this would mean about 70 – 100 THB per person in the songtao each way. If we go in our own transport, please be prepared to give the driver money for petrol, probably around 100 – 150 THB
Drink / Food
Bring enough water and food for a breakfast break in the middle of the hike.
